Mill Road House - Restored and centrally heated house with lake views Restored and centrally heated house with lake views, terraces and fully enclosed and gated outside area. Peacefully located near the banks of the pretty trout-filled stream “Lago di Villa” just 1km from the village of Villa Collemandina, which has a baker, butcher, chemist, café, post office, and doctor's surgery as well as a restaurant.

Mill Road House is currently laid out as follows:

Ground floor: Dining kitchen with open fire, lounge with open fire, single bedroom and shower room with window.

First floor there are two double bedrooms (one has a large terrace (18 sqm) overlooking the stream and a bathroom.

Second floor: Third double bedroom and enormous balcony (31 sqm) with views of the stream

Semi-interred floor: Large wine cellar with access both from the lounge and from the carport.

As well as two large terraces with lovely views, additional outside space is provided by a little lawned area (about 10m x 2m) along the gated driveway leading to the carport.

Just 3.5km from Millr Road House, Castiglione is an ancient mountain town (545m asl) with much of its historical heritage intact. Local shops include grocery store and cafés, restaurant, hotel, butcher's shop and chemist.

5 minutes drive away is Pontecosi village with its pretty lake, churches, traditional houses also has a café/village shop right on the shores of the lake, which not only stocks basic groceries but which sells ice cream and a small but tasty selection of reasonably priced hot and cold snacks.

The lake is a haven for wild birds and is also a good fishing venue. There is a traditional Italian bowling (bocce) alley and a small children’s play park.

The medieval market town of Castelnuovo di Garfagnana (8km) lies in the heart of the Garfagnana, as this stretch of the fertile valley of the Serchio, flanked by the Apuan Alps to the west and Apennines to the east, is known. The district provides a range of sporting activities and promotes folk, agricultural and cultural events.

Castelnuovo train station is on the main Pisa/Lucca to Aulla line and there is a bus station with good links to the surrounding area.

The coast (Forte dei Marmi) and excellent ski resort of Abetone are about 1 hour away by car (in opposite directions!) Lucca and Pisa airport are about 1 hour and 1.5 hours away respectively.
