Near the historic Duomo in the quaint medieval mountain village of Eglio, fully restored traditional 3 bedroom stone built village house with conservatory, large terrace and patio and spectacular panoramic views to the mountains and surrounding villages.
Casa Falossi is in a very sunny position with sun at the front in the morning and at the back in the evening. Although it sits in the heart of the village, it is attached to other properties only on one wall and parking is available in the village piazza or little car park right next door.
Access is from a pretty village lane and the front door opens into a very welcoming lounge with open fire. The house has central heating although most of the heating is provided by the open fire which has a warm air function.
Just off this living area there is the kitchen with French doors to the balcony and large, dual aspect windows and the 4 piece bathroom with window.
Stairs lead the upper floor which is divided into 3 bedrooms 2 of which are interconnecting .
As there are windows on both sides of the house, this area could be rearranged to include a hallway and so separate the bedrooms.
All the furniture, except 2 or 3 pieces of sentimental value to the owners, is included in the asking price.
Outside there is a summer kitchen with direct access to the large terrace, large room with shower and original solid chestnut beams, and a working bread oven.
The walls are thick and this helps to keep the house cosy in winter and cool in summer. They have been plastered but this could easily be removed to expose the stones beneath and restore the house to how it would have looked when it was built, probably over 100 years ago.
The name Eglio is believed to originate from the Greek word “Elios” (sun) as this is one of the first villages to be lit up by the sun in the morning and one of the last to lose the sun in the evening. Located in the Natural Park of the Apuan Alps, designated as such for its exceptional beauty and characterised by meadowland and mixed woodland.
