There is also a cavernous cellar (110 sqm) area with beautiful arches and original bread oven. Parking is available in the village car park about 100m away.
The nearby village of Pieve di Monti di Villa (2.5km away) has a population of about 30 people who live there all year round and there is a friendly café/grocery shop in the village. There are many walks from the village along the old “mulini” (mule tracks).
6km away is the spa town of Bagni di Lucca with its wide range of shops and services, excellent restaurants and train station on the main line to Pisa and Lucca.
The Orrido di Botri, an impressive gorge, is close by. The creek between the rocky walls forms a rare and scenic natural environment of great geological and naturalist interest and the area is home roe deer, deer, hare, squirrel, marmot, fox, polecat, marten and other animals.
