Originally the manor house of Corfino, this beautifully restored villa on the historic high street retains a number of period features including open fire, beamed ceilings and terracotta floors.
The villa would make a lovely family home or B&B/small hotel as it has 7 bedrooms (4 of which have en-suite facilities), kitchen, 2 sunny reception rooms separated by an arch, shower room and separate “taverna” (2 large rooms with kitchen, wood burning stove and BBQ) with access directly onto a large south-facing patio leading to a small lawn area and additional small field a bit further on.
The picturesque stone built mountain village of Corfino (822 m asl), on the foothills of the majestic “Pania di Corfino”, is over 1000 years old and has stupendous views of both the Apuan Alps and Apennines. There are a number of good hotels and restaurants as well as 3 grocery shops and a post office. Tennis, horse riding and skiing are available close by.
Corfino is a short way away from the beautiful Orecchiella National Park, well known for its uncrowded trails and byways from which visitors can enjoy the local wildlife and flora. These include royal eagles, royal owls, hawk, deer and the recently re-introduced rams and wolves.
Corfino is 20 minutes from Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, about 1 hour and 10 minutes from Lucca and just over 1.5 hours drive from Pisa airport and the sea. The main Pisa – Lucca- Aulla train line is 20 minutes away.
