Valbona is a beautiful, traditional medieval mountain village at 673 m asl through which flows the Esarulo stream.
In medieval times there was only the mill which served the local area and the Verucchia Castle. Little by little, other buildings sprang up around the mill until a small village grew, complete with little church. Today, it has changed very little although restoration carried out by the 23 or so residents in the last few years have given back to the village its “picture postcard” beauty.
