The beautiful medieval stone built village of Colognora is only 20 minutes drive from Lucca and 30 minutes from the beach.  Pisa airport is 48km away (about 1 hour by car) and the well equipped ski resort of Abetone is about the same.  There is a train station on the main line from Pisa airport about 10 minutes away in Diecimo.
 
A bread van comes every day, fruit and vegetables twice a week and general grocery van once or twice a week. You can buy fresh eggs from the locals and there is a café/restaurant in Vetriano, about 1km away.  Diecimo  has a wide range of shops and services.
