A little about the area:

• Situated in the heart of the Garfagnana, in the depths of the countryside, with mountain views, but only 600M by foot to a restaurant (2km by car), and just over a 5-minute drive from another, this peaceful retreat is also convenient with lots of eating choices within 15 minutes.
• The location is equidistant from the towns of Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, and Gallicano, both of which are under a 15-minute drive away, and both of which have shops, bars, restaurants, weekly market and a train station for easy exploring. There is also a hypermarket in Gallicano which is 20 minutes from the house.
• The beautiful town of Barga with its cathedral, art, regular outdoor music and evening markets is also renowned for its restaurants and is only a 20-minute drive.
• Lucca - the walled mediaeval city is a 45 minute drive. Cycle the walls, meander the cobbled streets, relax in the Piazzas or listen to opera or concerts from renowned acts.
• Pisa - 1 hr 15
• Grotta del Vento - fabulous cave system 35 mins
• For the adventurous:
• Parco Levigliese - 23 mins - water canyoning, rock climbing etc
