The Mill is situated say 2km from the village of Poggio in the Garfagnana valley circa one hour north of Lucca.
Surrounded by a fruit orchard, and bordered by a stream you can enjoy the marvellous view of the surrounding green mountains.
The local villages of Poggio and Camporgiano are 2km and 4km respectively from the property, the latter of which has a couple of restaurants and bars, an inhabited castle, supermarket, and small Monday morning market. Both villages have train stations for easy exploring.
Castelnuovo, the local market town is a 15 minute drive away, and the mediaeval town of Barga is a circa 30 minute drive. Take a trip to Pisa in 90 mins and Florence in under 2 hours... The real beauty of the area though is its proximity to two important Protected National Parks, the surrounding mountains and the hundreds of hill top villages where it seems that time has stood still
