Monterotondo is a wonderful character villa with private pool, within walking distance of a good restaurant and just a 5 minute drive into town.

Set in the heart of the mountainous Garfagnana Northern Tuscany, in a tiny hamlet,  this rural property with 3 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms is a perfect place for a relaxing holiday.

The villa boasts original beamed ceilings, traditional flooring, handmade chestnut windows along with 2 wood burners and oozes Tuscan farmhouse character. Modern conveniences have not been forgotten and there is a fully equipped dining kitchen, living room with comfy seating for all, 2 bathrooms and a further WC. There are 2 double bedrooms, a twin room and there is an additional single bed on the landing for a further guest.

The design of the house gives privacy between a small family and a further couple, with 2 bedrooms situated on one side of the first floor and the second double room over the other side.

  • Enter into hallway with sofa, through to the ample living room, with original fireplace and wood burning stove, lots of comfortable seating and smart TV.
  • Living room  leads through to well equipped kitchen with 4 ring hob, oven, large fridge/freezer and dishwasher. This is a homely kitchen boasting a  fireplace with wood burning stove, and the villa's dining table.
  • Ground floor cloakroom with WC and basin.

First floor:

  • From the kitchen there is a wooden staircase (handrail will be in place) leading to a small landing area with a day bed (low ceiling)  .

A little about the area:

Situated in a tiny hillside hamlet in the heart of the stunning mountainous Garfagnana, and less than a 20 minute walk from a good restaurant.

Convenient, peaceful and rural mountain location yet only 2.5km from the local market town of Castelnuovo di Garfagnana with its bars, restaurants, shops and Thursday morning market.

  • Barga - 15 minutes by car - this beautiful mediaeval town with cobbled streets, wonderful views, great restaurants, art, regular free outdoor music and regular day time and evening markets deserves a few visits.
  • Lucca - 45 mins by car - this stunning mediaeval city is a must for a day trip or two. One can spend all day cycling the walls exploring the many piazzas, climbing towers, admiring the architecture, designer shopping or just absorbing the wonderful atmosphere of Puccini's birthplace. Treat yourself to an opera recital too, or if you travel during the music festival, see world famous acts in intimate settings.
  • Florence - 90 minute drive.
  • Pisa and Pisa airport around 1 hour and 15 minutes.
  • For those who enjoy the outdoor life there is also a local tree climbing/zip wiring park a 20 minute drive away, with courses adapted for all age groups, from the very young to adults. Enjoy a picnic here too on hot days.
  • There are local adventure parks where one can try water canyoning, rock climbing, swimming in rock pools, canoeing etc and there is the Grotta del Vento, a massive cave system in the mountains which is a good day out.
  • There is an ancient fortress to visit also just a 25 minute drive , with jaw dropping views,  and interactive displays for children including a chance to try a little archery..
