Turello is a lovely detached 2 bedroom cottage set in total seclusion with a private pool. The house is set in extensive grounds (30 hectares!), including vines and chestnut woods, and has terrific views over to Barga and the mountains beyond. This is a really peaceful retreat, yet within walking distance of facilities and a very short drive to the beautiful city of Barga!
The house:

The kitchen leads through open plan to the living room which has large double doors looking out on the garden.
Also on the ground floor is a shower room with WC, sink and shower.
Upstairs, via a spiral staircase (or via outside if guests prefer) there are two bedooms - a twin, which leads through to a double. Both rooms have doors leading outside. Both rooms can accommodate an extra single bed on request.
WIFI
Outside:
The piece di resistance for this house has to be the grounds!
All this at a very reasonable price...
Just relax!!!!
A little about the area:
Situated in Albiano, with stunning views , this property is a perfect retreat, less than a 5 minute drive from the Mediaeval town of Barga, with its hilly windy cobbled streets, duomos, 10th Century cathedral and ancient architecture. Barga is also renowned in the area for its good quality, but reasonably priced restaurants. There are often outdoor concerts/plays performed many times free of charge with performances ranging from Rock and Pop, to Jazz and the Classics.
Within walking distance, (1.5km) is the village of Albiano, where there is restaurant/bar/basic shop but hilly, bendy and no pavements/lighting.
Barga itself is circa 1 hour 15 mins from Pisa, 1 hr 40 mins from Florence;50 minutes from the beautiful walled mediaeval city of Lucca and close to the National Parks of the Apuane Alps.
Hilltop villages abound, and exploring can be either townie or totally rural - the choice is yours, if you can tear yourselves away from the garden!
NB - last part of road leading to house is very steep but perfectly do-able in an ordinary car.

Perfect!
We can confirm what our predecessors had left as comments, being: very friendly and helpful yet discreet owners, beautiful grounds and lovely swimming pool, well-equipped house both indoor and outdoor including well-functioning wifi, wonderful shower, pizza oven, well-equipped kitchen, various sitting areas with furniture, sun loungers, bbq, sheltered parking, ... in other words, you will not be short of anything. Beautiful region. Barga is a beautiful little town. Conad supermarket 10 minutes away. 30 minutes from Lucca, 45 minutes from Pisa, an hour from the sea ... canyoning, caves and others nearby. The climb to Il Turello is indeed tough, but on the other hand also charming and ultimately doable without too many problems. Once arrived on location, it is more than worth it because what a beautiful garden with views! The contacts with the agency also went smoothly. Recommended!

Lovely house with a beautiful pool
The house works fine and there was what should be. We were very excited about the pool and terrace area and the magnificent view. The host Dr. Chiappi was very friendly and helpful and after a day of heavy wind he cleared the whole road and terrace and cleaned the pool. Really impressive. All in all, a lovely 14 days, even if the road up there is quite a challenge.

Private and secluded and unseen - 4 stars :
Positive: you are really all for yourself, about 30 hectares of land belong to it, large pool, sun loungers with sun roof, patio to retire in the shade.. large dining table outside under a tree the landlord is a very friendly man and open to everything negative : Bedroom upstairs via a 40 cm wide spiral staircase or via an outside staircase, at night only possible with a flashlight no toilet upstairs, you should know that for a night-time toilet visit we have an SUV and were afraid that we would get stuck somewhere when driving up and down. .. Conditions like in UK
All perfect.

All really very nice and cared for. Impeccable outdoor space and fantastic pool. The only drawback, was reaching the property as it was difficult (we had to ask nearby houses say it was located). A tip: in addition to the textual indications, also add photos to better understand how to reach it. For the rest, Amedeo and Paola are fantastic hosts, very nice and helpful! We will be back!

Beautiful location and a great house Simple house in a beautiful spot on top of the mountain. Wonderfully quiet and you have the feeling that you are in the middle of nature. The road to it is narrow and steep but after driving up and down a few times it is fine. The pool is lovely and the house is simple but pleasant.

A genuine Italian gem
5 stars
We were a Danish family with two children of 3 years who had a fantastic holiday in ‘Il Turello’. The house is completely secluded on top of a small mountain top and with a nice view to all sides. The road up there was a little scary the first time, but after a few times it went fine. We were greeted by our nice host, Amadeus, who himself lives a little further down the mountain - and got a nice tour of the house and the impressive fenced area that the house is located within. The house worked perfectly for our needs and was incredibly well maintained and clean. The same was the outdoor area and the pool. Around the house there is both forest and a large orchard / olive grove, which our children loved to explore. The pizza oven was a hit. Can only give the very best recommendations. Remember mosquito spray. We look forward to coming again!

What a beautiful escape from it all ★ ★ ★ ★ ★
We absolutely loved our week at Il Turello. We were provided with a great set of directions on how to find the cottage, including how we could visit a fantastic local supermarket on the way.
The cottage is indeed remote - just what we wanted, and so is a fair way up some narrow, winding roads - but well worth the journey. We just cannot describe the experience as the cottage, pool and grounds reveal themselves when you get to the top. Breathtaking doesn’t even get close...
The owner; Amadeo, gave us a very warm welcome on arrival and while he was always available - he left us in privacy while we stayed. Although he did pop around within a day or so of our arrival to drop off some freshly picked cherries from the orchard above the cottage. He said we could help ourselves too - which we did once or twice! Freshly picked cherries, yum... For anyone who visits later in the year, your treat may be figs or something else instead.
The cottage is set in beautiful surroundings, great views with so many different little areas to just sit in the quiet countryside and relax.
The pool is a good size and was warm when we stayed late May.
The cottage is well equipped and clean. It was perfect for the two of us. The pizza oven is a fantastic treat. We cheated and got some ready made dough from the local supermarket and covered this with our home made sauce and various toppings. Absolute best ever pizzas we tasted.
In summary - we had a fabulous and relaxing week and hope to come back in the future.

Relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable! ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had a wonderful holiday at Il Turello. The property was very clean on arrival and all facilities were as described. Amadeo and his wife were extremely welcoming and on hand for any questions. The gardens, pool and views were some of the best we have experienced. Barga provided many restaurants to sample and nearby Lucca was definitely worth a visit. We would recommend this property albeit with its very steep entrance Date of arrival 29 July 2017 A house with a view ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Il Turello provided us with the perfect holiday. It is totally private with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, and the owner, Amadeo, is charming and funny, helpful if you need it but never intrusive. The wonderful swimming pool was the icing on the cake, we had some lovely evenings stargazing and even though there is so much to do and see in this beautiful area, it was tempting to just stay put! The local town of Barga has lots to see and lots of nice little places to eat. Further afield is the medieval town of Lucca, well worth a day trip and don't miss the Ponte di Diavolo on the way. Just one note of caution - the road up to the house is extremely steep so if flying hire yourself the smallest 4x4 you can - it gets easier with practice and is totally worth the effort. We left totally relaxed and refreshed, and I very much hope we will return in the future.
