Beautiful views and surrounding areas
We loved our stay at the villa. There was plenty of room and the kids loved the pool. The hosts were helpful. There is plenty to do in the surrounding area and the cities of Lucca, Pisa and Florence are outstanding. The nearer towns of Barga and Castelnuovo are also very attractive. The area has recently been a center of attention on BBC with Amanda Holden, Rob Rinder and Clive Myrie. However, if you don't like heights and hairpin bends up a mountainside, this might not be the villa for you.

Ah! There it is….
If you are looking for seclusion and relaxation, this is the place for you. The spacious house is very clean and tidy and is set in terraced grounds. The view of the Tuscan mountains and valleys remains unforgettable. The small bar above the house in Chiozza has everything you need for breakfast and on several evenings it also offers typical Tuscan antipasti, a few meat dishes and of course countless pizzas. With Angela, the owner of the house, you can order a very tasty, home-made menu several times a week. And if you really want to cook for yourself, you can reach the nearest supermarket after about 6 km. We - 6 friends - enjoyed 2 weeks of sunshine, blue skies and a well-kept pool. Excursions to the surrounding area and to Lucca were of course also included.

Oasis of peace with a distant view
5 stars
We were guests in Elricso as a family with 2 teenage girls and a German shepherd. The house is very clean and furnished with attention to detail. The pool was also clean and well maintained. We especially enjoyed sitting on the covered terrace with the great view. Angela was a very nice and always helpful host, thanks again for the tomatoes and the small farewell present! If you are looking for peace and seclusion, this is the right place for you. Since the property is in the mountains, it was never too hot, which of course was good for our dog. Thanks to our (adult) children ;-) we drove to the nearby village with its pizzeria "La Grotta". There is a fantastic antipasti platter that is easily enough as a main course ;-) Pizza and salads are also very tasty! For hiking we went to San Pellegrino in Alpe. I can only recommend it to everyone. We also undertook a long serpentine drive to Viareggio by the sea. It took us about 1.5 hours to get there. In about 20 minutes you are in Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, where there are several shops and restaurants. All in all, you can definitely recommend the accommodation. Especially for those looking for peace and quiet who have no problem with bends. ;-)

Situated up the mountain close to a small town Chiozza, the place is amazing for a perfect Tuscan holiday. Well equiped and spacious even for a large family. High points for the swimming pool.

Lovely house
We enjoyed the house, pool and veranda. It is a comfortable house with a well-equipped kitchen, fine bathrooms and spacious bedrooms. The house is secluded and on top of a mountain. For peace seekers it is a lovely place.

Angelina's house in Prunecchio/Chiozza is ideal for 2 families who want to spend their holidays together. Condition of the bedrooms and bathrooms top, we slept very well in the mattresses (in other houses this was far from so). The kitchen could not harm a few good knives, but in principle very fine. Especially nice: The covered arbor, where we have taken all meals, with great views of the mountains and the valley. The pool was very ok for the children, for us adults it was mostly too cold, too little deep (1.20m) and with five breast tempi length also a little small. But the entire outdoor area (even a weaver ball grill!) is very well maintained, there are enough loungers, every evening the landlady looked over to clean the pool.... The price-performance ratio is top, who likes the seclusion, is in good hands here. In 15 minutes you are on foot in Chiozza, where there is truly world-class pizza in "La Grotta"! This is also the bar of the place/an Alimentari. What you need to know: You are really very much in the mountains. I'm not allowed to be fresh in the evening or morning and either it goes steeply uphill (18 percent is not uncommon) or downhill. If you want to walk a kilometre, you first have to go down into the valley. But you even make it to Castiglione di Garfagnana with ice-motivated children - 4km down and then up again.... So if you like to train mountain runs and love the peace (like us): go for it.

We had a wonderful stay and enjoyed Angelas generous help. The house is ideal for two families and could easily accomodate nine people. The location is very beautiful with nice scenic views and tugged away from other tourists. 15 minutes drive up and down the moutain and you are in Castelnuovo with its grocery shops etc. We arrived very late in the evening and in the dark you have to drive carefully otherwise you might miss the right way downhill. Thanks to Angela for your hospitality and your really great meals. We enjoyed everything a lot!

We stayed with 2 families, 3 children under 12 years each. Children have fun in the swimming pool. The cooking service (tagliatelli, lasagna and ravioli) of the hostess is a plus. Nice visits done: Pisa, Castelnuovo, Lucca, Barga, San Pelligriono, Pieve Fosciana

Perfect holiday In Tuscany! 5 stars
The house is very good for two families and ten people. Peaceful area with unbelievable views. The house and the garden were clean and the owner came and cleaned up the pool every evening. We really enjoyed Angela's (owner's) lasagne, it was the best ever!

A welcoming home ★ ★ ★ ★ ★
The pictures dont really do it justice. Not even google mapping the site, the house is well built, pretty, Italian rustique I would call it. Each room was very spacious, and with 7 people in our party, you wouldnt know it. Large kitchen with all the standard conveniences, a lovely old sitting room with a TV and sky, a large swimming pool and lounging area, and a veranda to enjoy a meal with the sunset. Has some large fields attached which includes an orchard of apple and pear trees (the apples are divine btw) and continue walking upto the small gap in the bushes and you get a magnificent view of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Also saw a few deer while we were there. Angela, the host, is a lovely lady who offers advice on where to go, and gave us a bowl of fruit and veg which was very generous. Ive heard on previous reviews that she offers to cook, but we didnt want to hassle her. Overall its a lovely little place slightly out of the village of Chiozza, down a narrow road, and quite easy to miss if not careful. I would recommend staying here.

4 stars A beautiful complete house with a great view
A beautiful well-kept house with good beds and plumbing.
The kitchen offered all the conveniences needed with a spacious fridge and freezer. The swimming pool was cleaned every day. The view is breathtaking on all sides.
During a heavy rain shower a few drops came through the roof and the winding road to the house can be experienced as exciting.
We spent a great time at Elicriso! 4 weeks enjoying the scenery, the good weather, the big and comfortable house allowing friends and the whole family to come and stay for several days over the 4 weeks.
Angela and her husband, the owners, were welcoming and very helpful with good adivices about food, local restaurants, visits, walkings.
The pool was a bonus with this hot weather and I miss it!
Despite the remoteness of the location, the quietness and the stunning view were even more appreciated.
We highly recommend the place for resting holidays!
Thank you Angela!

Fantastic ★ ★ ★ ★ ★
We had a wonderful two week stay here in August. Setting is stunning - gorgeous mountain views from all the bedrooms. The house was very spacious and immaculately clean as was the pool. Angela was a great host and we really enjoyed the meal she prepared for us. Although the area is rather hilly, we enjoyed the walk into Chiozza for some low key lovely meals too. One highlight was the walk to Castiglione as you turn right out of the house and walk down following the forest path. We had a lovely lunch in Castiglione and walked back. Our 8 year old and the two grannies in their 70s managed this walk well. Overall, a lovely stay and experience and although we like to mix up our holidays, I am seriously considering coming back next year... Thank you to everyone for making our stay great.

“Amazing stay at Elicriso”
We had an amazing stay at Elicriso. The house was beautiful with stunning views of the mountains and medieval villages. The pool was lovely and very welcome as the weather was hot and sunny for the whole of our stay. We were made very welcome by Angela and Fabbiana who couldn't do enough for us. We took advantage of their fabulous home cooked meals - absolutely delicious and such good value - a definite must for anyone staying in this lovely place. Chiozza was a 20 minute walk up a steep hill - much easier on the way down! The locals were very friendly, with a good bar and pizza place in the little square. We cannot recommend Elicriso highly enough and would love to go back again.

“Maximum relaxation, great place for nature, walks and farniente” 5 Stars
We stayed at "Elicriso" with a large family of 2 adults, 4 teeenagers and a 10-year old. It was a great stay in all respects.
The location is beautiful: on the way to a small hamlet (Prunecchio), itself 1 km away from a picturesque village (Chiozza), on the side of the mountain, with great/relaxing views on the valleys, the small villages and the Alpi Apuane. Peace and quiet. The house is also conveniently located for various hikes/treks, either down to Castiglione di Garfagnana, around the villages or up the Appenines (after a 15-20 minutes car ride) from San Pellegrino in Alpe and various passes.
The house itself is very well-renovated, respecting the 'traditional' style. The rooms are spacious, the beds large and comfortable. All equipments are fine, and the house is very well kept (very clean and orderly). The swimming pool is very relaxing and fresh after a day of walks or visits.
A special 'plus' to the owner and her assistant Fabiana for great service -- very hospitable, responsive and helpful. We had the unfortunate experience of a mechanical problem with our car (quite a problem in the mountains!), and she helped us out through a local mechanic etc.
So: very nice, authentic place. This house is a great place to stay and relax. Nature is all around, and wildlife is also close by -- on a quiet morning we saw a large male deer very close to the house.
Naturally, being up on the mountain means that driving times to cities are longer. Count 1 hour for Lucca (great city!) & 1h 30 mins for Pisa; also 1h30 to the seaside. Some convenient supermarkets are down in the valley -- a 15 mins car ride.
We very much recommend Elicriso!

5 stars!
We (me, my husband and two twenty-something children) had a fabulous week in this lovely, spacious house in the Tuscan mountains. It had all we wanted and more. The house and pool had wonderful views all round. The village was a short walk away and had a great bar/restaurant for eat in or take away pizzas. The wild life was an added bonus - wild boar, deer, foxes and lots of dancing fireflies. There were lots of places to visit, though we spent much of our time lazing by the pool in the sun. We did make it to Lucca for the festival and a great Paolo Nutini concert in the main square. The owner made us feel very welcome and was always ready to offer any advice or information we needed. All in all, a lovely week in a lovely property which I would have no hesitation in recommending to others.

I just wanted to thank you for all your help with things before our stay at Elicriso, and to say that the house, setting, holiday and Angela herself, were all absolutely wonderful. We had a great time and would happily recommend the house to anyone interested!

“peaceful and relaxing with great views”
well finished, comfortable and spacious. great views and offers wonderful peace and tranquillity if you want to get away from it all.
car essential, small shop in local village supplies basics and this is about 10 -15 mins walk away.you need to be organised with your groceries as the property is situated at the top of a long and windy road from the main town, so you don't want to forget anything!!
the owner is lovely and on hand to sort any problems out, nothing is too much trouble, the property is clean, comfortable and well maintained and you are well looked after by the owner and her family. all the rooms are big and spacious with everything you need.
although the pool is small and the poolside compact it has been finished well and provided enough room for our 3 teenagers and 10 year old to have lots of fun!!
