The apartment is about 1 hr 20 minutes from Lucca and 1 hr 40 minutes from Pisa.

Careggine itself is over 1000 years old, with traditional stone built houses and village lanes.

A couple of minutes drive away are the small ski lifts of Formica and Via Nova with restaurants, three ski lifts and artificial snow making facilities. The much larger resort of Abetone is about 1 hour away. The coast is less than 30 miles (46km) away over the marble mountains of Carrara, making Careggine an ideal location for holidays all year round.

The nearest large market town, Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, is 13km away It has supermarkets, banks, garages and all manner of other shops, services and sporting facilities as well as train station on the main Pisa/Lucca to Aulla line.
