A little about the area:
The village of Casciana has 250 inhabitants, a busy bar, and a shop which can supply all essentials including fresh bread and wonderful views!!
It is around 3kms to the closest restaurant and after this point there is a good choice of restaurants and bars. The closest larger village is Camporgiano a five minute drive away with a couple of restaurants and bars; inhabited castle; supermarket, pharmacy, small Monday morning market, and station for easy exploration of the entire area.
The village of Piazza al Serchio is also only a 5 min drive away – across the river, and all facilities can be found here including a fantastic pizzeria!
The property is circa 20 mins from the market town of Castelnuovo; 35 mins from the medieaval town of Barga and just one hour 15 minutes, north of Lucca.
Pisa is around 90 minutes or so away....
