A little about the area:
Perfectly located in a quiet residential position just a short walk away from the centre of the beautiful mediaeval town of Barga.
Barga has hilly windy cobbled streets, duomos, 10th Century cathedral and ancient architecture. Barga is also renowned in the area for its good quality, but reasonably priced restaurants. There are often outdoor concerts/plays performed many times free of charge with performances ranging from Rock and Pop, to Jazz and the Classics. In the summer there are many festas and markets under the stars. The town is often buzzing with different free music in various Piazza's around the town. Just relax with a gelato or glass of wine and listen to the music.
There is also an abundance of art, and plenty of places to shop, including supermarket.
Barga itself is well located for exploring Tuscany, circa 1 hour 15 mins from Pisa, 1 hr 40 mins from Florence;50 minutes from the beautiful walled mediaeval city of Lucca and close to the National Parks of the Apuane Alps. The local market town of Castelnuovo is also only 15 minutes away .
Hilltop villages abound, and exploring can be either townie or totally rural - the choice is yours, if you can tear yourselves away from the garden!
NB - the owners live upstairs but have their own independent entrance and driveway. They do not use the garden or pool which is for exclusive use of guests, and privacy is fully respected.
